Decision e-mail was sent out on November 16. Please check your spam-filter as unfortunately we have experienced that our mails sometimes ends there.

The DRUID Academy 2022 is open for all PhD students working within the broad field of economics and management of innovation, entrepreneurship and organizations. We invite papers aiming at enhancing our understanding of the dynamics of technological, structural and institutional change at the level of firms, industries, regions and nations. DRUID is the node for an open international network - new partners are most welcome. We encourage all PhD students to submit their research. Do not hesitate to apply even if you have not been in contact with DRUID previously.

The main purpose of the DRUID academy is to support PhD training and advancement of new knowledge. The main emphasis is on PhD presentations. Each PhD student paper will be assigned to a “junior” (a fellow PhD student) and to a senior discussant (from DRUID or invited guests). There will also be a series of keynote speakers in the program. The format provides a unique opportunity for the matching and mentoring of senior researchers with PhD students during the entire event. Please see the 'Purpose and learning goals' under 'Practical info' for more information.

We expect to be able to accept 60 PhD student presentations. If a greater number of abstracts are submitted, we will put limits on the number of students from each university. Please read the guidelines carefully before submitting.

Plenary lectures

We are inviting significant international scholars within this broad field to lecture on their research. Together with a large number of DRUID and invited discussants, they will comment and interact with participants.

The Bent Dalum PhD Award

DRUID has an award for the most promising research project presented at the DRUID Academy events. The award is given in the memory of Bent Dalum (1946-2010), one of the main drivers of joint PhD education in Europe within the field of innovation studies.

Submission

All doctoral students who wish to present a paper at the DRUID Academy 2022 must submit an one-page abstract (no more, no less, no tables or graphs, and only few key references are allowed) before the deadline of November 9, 2021 (Twelve noon, your local time) through the website www.druid.dk. Submission site opens October 11, 2021

Guidelines

The abstract should start with the title of your submission, followed by your name, affiliation, year of enrolment, expected final date, and e-mail address. This information is to come before the body of the abstract, which should be written in plain text (that is, without bullet-points or other special codes). All above information is to be copied into the abstract field/box at the submission site.

The abstract should focus on your own contribution, not on what the existing literature has said. A few lines reviewing the existing literature are helpful, but only to position your contribution in the context of that literature. The abstract should mirror the full paper and could include following points: 1) briefly describe the existing state-of-the-art; 2) explain the research gap that you are trying to fill and pose a research question; 3) give your main theoretical arguments; 4) spell out your method (and data, if an empirical paper); and 5) present your results. Submission of an abstract gives the organizers permission to disseminate it and the accompanying paper electronically or place it on the academy website. We reserve the right to reject abstracts, which do not comply with the above requirements.

DRUID uses available software to control for plagiarism and to take appropriate action in severe cases. Details are available under Terms and Conditions on the website.

Each participant will be charged a fee of Euro 300. The fee and the DRUID Academy will cover all meals from Wednesday January 12 after lunch until Friday January 14, lunch included. A list of hotels and directions to the Academy event will be available on the website.
