Conference venue, local transport, and hotels

Conference venue

Denmark

Please notice that Denmark is not a part of the Euro zone. Credit cards are widely used, and you can take out the local currency DKK (“kroner”) at any ATM.

Tipping is not customary.

Airport transport

CBS is served by the Metro train station “Frederiksberg”. Look for the “M” sign at the far end of the airport arrival hall and walk one level up. The Metro runs all day and night every 2-3 minutes directly from Copenhagen airport to the city center (travel time airport-“Nørreport” 15 mins) and from the center onwards to CBS (travel time “Nørreport”-“Frederiksberg” 3 mins).

Metro information:  http://intl.m.dk/#!/

Regional trains (one level down from the arrival hall) serve the city center (stations “København H” or “Nørreport”), which may be more convenient for your hotel. Please observe not to take the train towards Malmø (Sweden)!

Tickets, valid for all trains for 1 hour, can be purchased in the vending machines on the Metro platforms or at the counter in the airport arrival hall (you need 3 zones from the airport to CBS/city center). Single tickets are available (36 DKK from airport), but a 3-day City Pass is good value (340 DKK, also valid for busses). Credit cards can be used both at vending machines and at counters. There is no ticket control when boarding the trains, but there are regular checks and fines for freeriding are heavy.

You can also catch a taxi from the airport to CBS (20 minutes, 350 DKK). Credit cards can be used in taxis, and receipts are available.

Local transport

The Metro, as mentioned above, is an efficient solution. CBS is served by the “Frederiksberg” Metro station, and connections to the Metro from S trains, the suburban trains serving most of Copenhagen, are made at the Central or Nørreport stations. Train map here: https://transitmap.net/greater-copenhagen-rail-2024/#jp-carousel-21982

All transport tickets or passes will work in all public transportation (Metro, S trains, busses, and regional trains). There is no ticket control when boarding, but there are regular checks and fines for freeriding are heavy. More information: https://www.publictransport.dk/getting-around

You will need 2 zone tickets (24 DKK) for local transport in the Copenhagen/CBS area. A 3-day City Pass is good value (340 DKK, 4 zones, both for local and airport transport). You can buy tickets and passes in the Rejsebillet app, in 7-Eleven stores, or in vending machines on platforms and credit cards can be used (single tickets, not passes, can be bought in the bus, cash only). More information and journey planner: https://dinoffentligetransport.dk/en/find-tickets/day-tickets/city-pass

CBS is a short taxi ride away from Copenhagen center (10 minutes, 100 DKK). Taxis are easily hailed on the street or by calling +45 35 35 35 35 or +45 48 48 48 48. Beware that night fares are slightly higher. You can pay with credit card in taxis, and receipts are available.

Copenhagen is small and easy to navigate on foot or bicycle. If your hotel does not provide bikes, there is always a local friendly bike store renting out for a few days. For a casual ride, the usual suspects of bike rental companies, such as Donkey Republic, Dott and Lime operate in Copenhagen, with bikes for short-term rental available on most street corners.  62% of Copenhageners currently use their bikes for their daily commute to work, shcool or kindergarten, so visitors are advised to be considerate when renting a bike: Bike lanes are sacred territory. Stay in lane, keep to the right, and dont ride on the pavement.

Hotels

You must make your own hotel booking. DRUID does not arrange accommodation.

Local transport is easy (see above) and most hotels a short Metro ride (or a reasonable walking distance) from CBS. The best hotel selection is in the Copenhagen city center, offering a great range of options. Below, we provide examples of hotels in this area (please notice that these are merely suggestions – there are many more options and DRUID has no special arrangement with any hotel).

We recommend you book a hotel close to one of the following stations:
